These painting classes are set in the ancient city of Orvieto, with accommodation provided either in a beautiful B&B that provides independent rooms and bathrooms for individuals or couples OR, in individual, self-catering apartments, depending on your preferences. All accommodation options come with our personal guarantee and all are either IN, the ancient centre or within very close walking distance.
Victor Greenaway (www.victorgreenaway.com) is a very well know Australian painter and ceramic artist, now living in Orvieto. He brings a great mastery and many accomplishments to this program and is a sympathetic and intelligent teacher, for all comers, regardless of expertise or experience. The objective of these classes is to provide the best possible, most relaxing environment, in a wonderful setting to allow the work to unfold and develop without any distractions from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. But this fascinating life is close by and transport is provided for guided excursions within the region and dinners in some of Orvieto’s celebrated restaurants.

Along with the many local attractions and activities other excursions with a broader focus include several days of relaxed exploration of specialist centres and artisans such as the impressive Renaissance ceramic collections in Deruta and other selected visits we make simply because they are great places to visit and offer a relaxed alternative on days-off. The program includes, of course, guided walks in Orvieto to discover its ancient heritage as well as to the duomo and the famous Signorelli frescoes.
Painting classes are held in the studio with some canvasses supplied and all other material, in oils and/or acrylics (painting in acrylics is better for beginners). Subject matter may cover a broad range and may also include portraiture for more advanced painters. Typically, the first session of a general painting course involves determining painting subjects while exploring the surroundng countryside. Other than that, no prior knowledge or special skills are required to take part in this activity.
Included for Orvieto is a Carta Orvieto Unica providing entry into the sites and monuments within the city as well as our map pin-pointing local services (with some special benefits included), a detailed walking map around the “rock”, with lots information on points of interest within the city and a day-by-day guide to your included activities. You will have ample opportunity to make the most of the wonderful city of Orvieto and we will be happy to assist in other activities as you decide.
